MAURITIUS AT A GLANCE

Mauritius was first discovered by the Arabs in the 9th Century and was named Dina ARABI Later in the 1810 it was conquered by the British who colonize the Island. The Independence flag was floating for the first time in 1968 and 1992 Mauritius was declared a Republic Island and adopt the Democratic Regime.

Out of a total of 1860 km2, Mauritius has a natural coral barrier of 330km and the highest peak above sea level is 828 M. Port Louis is our main Capital City and we form a proud Multicultural society regrouping different communities whose origin is from India, Africa, China which forms a charming and peaceful population. Muslim community is around 25%.
